Professor Ian Boxill is a Professor of Comparative Sociology and Development at The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, Jamaica. From 2018-2023 he served as Deputy Principal of the UWI, Mona Campus and, prior to that, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the same campus. During the period 2010-2018, he held the S. Carlton Alexander Chair in Management Studies and served as the Director of the Centre for Tourism and Policy Research. A development specialist, Boxill is the author/editor of 9 books, 70 peer-reviewed articles, and has taught and lectured at universities in New Zealand, Mexico, the United States of America, the Caribbean (Barbados and Trinidad) and in Ghana. He is the CEO and Chairman of the Africa Caribbean Centre for Development located in Jamaica and Ghana. In January 2025, he was awarded the Kwame Nkrumah Award for Leadership by the Pan-Africa Leadership Institute, Ghana/South Africa.
